The Melbourne Bach Choir (MBC) was formed in 2005 to give an Easter performance of JS Bach's Magnificent St Matthew Passion in 2006.



The MBC is an occasional community choir drawing on singers of all ages throughout Melbourne's extensive choral community and aiming to give singers and audience alike the opportunity to experience live choral music.



The MBC is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in choral performance, to supporting music education and is committed to donating to community, aid and charitable organisations.

On the anniversary of the birth of the man widely regarded as the greatest composer who ever lived, the Melbourne Bach Choir invites you to two illuminating talks on JS Bach and his masterpiece, the St Matthew Passion *

 

Speakers: Barry Jones, AO, renowned polymath, ALP politician, and a longstanding devotee of Bachís music; and

Dr John Gregory, formerly Senior Lecturer in Theory of Art at Monash University, and a member of the Melbourne Bach Choir

* The Melbourne Bach Choir & Orchestra, together with six brilliant soloists, all conducted by Rick Prakhoff, will perform the St Matthew Passion at All Saintsí Anglican Church, East St Kilda, on Saturday 5 April at 7 pm and Sunday 6 April at 2.30 pm
